Dreams
by Langston Hughes
Hold
fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold
fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
My
People
by Langston Hughes
The
night is beautiful,
So the faces of my people.
The
stars are beautiful,
So the eyes of my people.
Beautiful,
also, is the sun.
Beautiful, also, are the souls of my people.
Poem
by Langston Hughes
I
loved my friend.
He went away from me.
There's nothing more to say.
The poem ends
Soft as it began-
I loved my friend.
