Weather, Temperature, Calendars and Time

Calendars through the Ages
http://webexhibits.org/calendars/index.html
Institute for Dynamic Educational Advancement (IDEA) by WebExhibits. Reviewed~ 25 Feb. 2002.
Created as a complement to www.time.gov, this site provides links to calendars and descriptive histories. Divided into four sections, this site is browsable and keyword searchable too. By following the link to the section called "Various Calendars," the user will find information for calendars currently in use (like the Indian calendar) and out of use (like the Mayan calendar). From the home page link to "credits and feedback," an extensive bibliography is given for further reading. This site is helpful to anyone interested in calendars, history, and learning about holidays in other cultures.

This public service is cooperatively provided by the two time agencies of United States: a Department of Commerce agency, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and its military counterpart, the U. S. Naval Observatory (USNO). Readings from the clocks of these agencies contribute to world time, called Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The time maintained by both agencies should never differ by more than 0.000 0001 seconds from UTC. This site gives the time and shows where it's sunny. There are pages on when the Millennium REALLY began, why it's called Daylight Saving (no s) Time, etc. Bruce Adams suggested this site.

The Weather Underground, Inc. Reviewed 5 March 2003.
Using information provided by the National Weather Service, users can locate weather information and forecasts for over 60,000 US and international cities. Users may also search by state, ZIP code, airport code or country. In addition, the site includes historical data back to 1994, as well as an astronomy area for sun rise, sun set information and the moon phases. The format is easy-to-use and can be personalized by language, time zone, metric or English units, and "favorite" cities to display on the opening screen. For a $5.00 membership fee per year users can access an "ad-free" version of the site and receive weather forecasts and weather alerts by email for cities of their choosing.
